CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Young Amir and Young Hassan enjoy flying their kites on an Afghanistan afternoon.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Finding Neverland director Marc Forster adapts author Khaled Hosseini’s critically acclaimed novel about two childhood best friends forever torn apart as their country is ravaged by endless war and bitter strife. As children, Amir (Khalid Abdalla) and Hassan were inseparable; their long days under azure Kabul skies often spent getting into innocent mischief or preparing for the highly anticipated kite-fighting tournament. When the day of the tournament arrives, however, a glorious victory is quickly offset by a timorous act of betrayal that ultimately serves as the catalyst for catastrophe. Not long after that fateful day, Amir moves away to America, leaving his old friend behind just as the ominous specter of war turns tragically tangible. Two decades later, Amir returns to Afghanistan to find his beloved homeland has now fallen under the iron-fisted rule of the Taliban. Still, all hope for redemption hasn’t been lost just yet, because now that Amir stands face to face with the irrepressible secrets that he struggled so vigilantly to bury, he will receive one last chance to make peace with the past, and lay the groundwork for a brighter future.

  1. I finished the book in less than a day. Then spent my entire night crying. I'm certain that if I ever watched the movie, that I'd just keep crying. How I feel for Hassan. How I feel for all of the characters. Especially Hassan's son.

  2. AMIR LOOKS ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE THIS AFGHANI THAT USED TO BE IN MY SCHOOL, ONE YEAR BELOW ME.

  3. THE TRAILER OF THE MOVIE, AND THE THE MOVIE ITSELF DOES NOT DO THE BOOK JUSTICE. I CRIED SO MUCH READING THE BOOK AND I ALMOST NEVER CRY.

  4. I have finished this book 2 days ago. There is no doubt that this is one of the best books ever. Amazing, heart touching novel. I read it in russian language, and I ll get english version to read as soon as possible… I recommend to everyone to read this strong novel "The Kite Runner"…

  5. Ahh Hassan, I'm currently reading the book and ohh I love it so much and I'm not going to lie it's the first book I like to actually read I'm on chapter 11 right now

  6. I just finished the book in 2 days and this is the first book i have cried whike reading so touching cant wait too watch this movie

  7. I cried and cried for little Hassan, especially when Amir was reading his letter as an adult… I lived through war as a child and had to flee my country, so something in me broke when Hassan talked about the country not being what it was when they were children. How horrid it is for people who still live through war every day, not knowing if the nightmare will ever end, living in fear for their children… I pray for you all who have gone or are going through it, I know how difficult it is and how the western world, in all their commodities and riches, are oblivious to that. May you find some inner peace despite everything that's going on.

  8. no words to describe the book it touched not only my heart but my soul too did not know a book could have an affect like that on you bravo Khaled bravo!!!

  9. I'm currently reading the book and I am mesmerized ! I'm read half of the book and already cried so much… The worst part is that I found myself in Hasan, I would do everything for a friend, and the feels in the book hit me like a train!

  10. & you ya dope stopped the world revolving around its mutters it’s illiousion and do not understand my method only your END as I said before I am a fool ; you not my Iberian :: and you offer no game .. Si! what is you Hulu ???

  11. i as a muslim understand why the west hates islam if they think that the taliban are representatives of true islam. i cant describe the hate and disgust i feel toward the taliban for ruiining the image of true islam. please people seek knowledge about islam and u will see that the taliban are one of the worse sects ever.

  12. Funny how it is so modern and civilized, even in 1978 and how Western propaganda media try to convince us that everyone only wears carpets or rags there, looks like King Kong and is a complete illiterate moron.

  13. honestly this book is just too great for words. by looking at the cover i wasn't looking forward to read it for my English class, but once i read it, i literally cried. it was such an amazing story. you should definitely read the book and then watch the movie 🙂

  14. “It was the kind of love that, sooner or later, cornered you into a choice: either you tore free or you stayed and withstood its rigor even as it squeezed you into something smaller than yourself.”
― Khaled Hosseini, And the Mountains Echoed
